Once you have completed the Canadian immigration process successfully and are legally entitled to work in Canada, AAC can offer you peer support and legal guidelines for practice, as the current legal scope of practice of Ayurveda in Canada differs significantly from India. Ayurveda is currently not regulated as a standalone complimentary health care modality, either by the Canadian Government or locally by province. Please check with your local AAC Chapter for specific details as legalities may vary from one province to another.

There are a number of both online and in-person programs varying by geographic region. AAC currently does not endorse or officiate any particular college or institution. We encourage prospective students to perform due diligence and investigative work to determine whether or not a program meets their requirements. Online education is available as well, although Ayurveda is a hands-on modality, and we encourage students to study in person as much as possible.

While one of AAC’s long-term organizational mandates is to establish clear guidelines for AAC-approved educational standards, our current requirement for professional membership is a minimum of 500 educational hours in a certified program or institution. Once AAC approved educational guidelines are established in a future date, AAC will follow an approval process, certifying the educational institutions.

AAC provides group professional liability insurance rates for practitioners, as well as support for its membership in the form of conferences, webinars and other resources. For more information on membership benefits, and for applying please visit:
