Bio

Tanu is an Advanced Ayurveda Practitioner, a plant-based chef and a multidisciplinary natural health practitioner. Her practice involves Clinical Ayurveda, Advanced Specialized Bowen Therapy, Applied Kinesiology and Specialized Marma Therapy, along with well-known Ayurveda and Clinical Therapies. Although Tanu has studied many modalities, her programs are created through an Ayurveda lens. She also offers many interactive workshops, supported by formal training in education. Tanu has a special interest in pain management, chronic illness and mental wellness through the perspective of Ayurveda and Vedic sciences.

Since the late 1990s, Tanu has been exploring the science and traditional wisdom behind the human condition, wellness and happiness across many countries and traditions, culminating in her current practice here in British Columbia. Initially motivated by her own health challenges, Tanu now compassionately and humbly shares everything that helped her with others.

Alongside natural medicine, Tanu is a Yoga Therapist and experienced Yoga, Breathwork and Meditation facilitator with the Art of Living Foundation. Tanu is also an educator and has a background in international and sustainable development, shaping the sensitive approach to her practice and workshops.

Tanu is the co-founder of Santani Āyurveda in Maple Ridge, BC, which she runs with her husband. She is a graduate of the coveted Ayurvedic Institute under the personal guidance of the renowned physician Dr Vasant Lad in New Mexico, USA. She completed her doctor-level studies with Dr Jayarajan Kodikannath and his team at Kerala Ayurveda Academy in California. Tanu grew up in and around the sunny, multicultural coastal cities of Fremantle and Perth, Western Australia, where she was introduced to permaculture, wholefood nutrition, environmental, sustainable practices and yoga which shape her life values deeply. Although she has been around yoga, Vedic and Buddhist principles from birth, In 1998, she began a dedicated yoga and meditation practice through many authentic centres and temples around Fremantle and Perth. She was introduced to her meditation master Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 2001 and has spent many years learning about yoga, meditation, Ayurveda and Vedic sciences in India, Australia, Canada, SE Asian and the USA, seeking foremost experts.

In her spare time, Tanu enjoys learning languages, Vedic Astrology and Vastu Shashtra, gardening, growing medicinal herbs, art and developing delicious recipes based on international cuisine using Ayurveda principles. She lives a quiet, contemplative life and travels extensively to enhance and share her skills and to do community work.
