TOPIC: The Heritage of Nutrition for the Mind

SYNOPSIS: How can we have a healthy mind? Are there any rules for creating mental health through Ayurveda? The answer is yes. Just like the body, mind also needs the right nutrition for its health.

As per Ayurveda, the foremost level of nourishment comes through the food we take in as the spirit of digested food helps to shape up not only the nervous tissue but also the subtle matter of mind. Other levels include nourishment through senses and trigunas (satwa, rajas and tamas qualities). Therefore we must be very careful in how we feed our minds.

In addition, detoxification is just as necessary for the mind as it is for the body. In this presentation, methods to purify mind of the negative emotions and facts about the right physical and subtle nutrition in the light of principles of Ayurveda will be discussed.
